The South GeorgiaLEADS program is a premier leadership immersion experience designed to equip citizens throughout South Georgia with awareness of critical regional issues and the necessary skills to effectively lead South Georgia in the 21st Century economy.

"This program has been an invaluable experience for my professional development and has expanded my understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities facing our region," said Harris. "I look forward to applying these leadership skills to strengthen economic development initiatives at SRTC and throughout our service area."

Throughout the seven-month program, Harris participated in sessions focusing on key regional topics, including community storytelling, leveraging tradition and opportunity, regional capacity-building, and the power of collective impact. The program culminated with a graduation ceremony held in Brooks County on March 20, 2025.

South GeorgiaLEADS was established in 2014 through a partnership between the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development at the University of Georgia. The program represents collaborative efforts by economic development professionals across South Georgia who recognize the critical importance of investing in a new generation of leaders who can champion the region while addressing significant challenges related to workforce development, education, and economic growth.
