Southern Regional Technical College Celebrates Grand Opening of New Industrial Technology Building

Moultrie, GA (04/30/2026) — Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) officially opened the doors of its new Industrial Technology Building on Thursday, April 30, 2026, in a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by state and local leaders, students, faculty, and community members. The new facility marks a major milestone for the college and the region's workforce development efforts.

The ceremony, held at 10:00 a.m. on the Moultrie campus, featured remarks from SRTC President Jim Glass, Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) Commissioner Greg Dozier, SRTC Board Chair Dawn Johns, State Senator Sam Watson, and State Representative Chas Cannon. The ribbon cutting was conducted in partnership with the Moultrie Chamber of Commerce, followed by guided tours of the new building.

"This building represents our commitment to providing students with the training environment they deserve," said SRTC President Jim Glass. "Our industrial technology programs have long been the backbone of workforce development in this region, and now they have a home that matches the quality of instruction our faculty provide every day."

The 70,000-square-foot Industrial Technology Building consolidates seven programs previously housed at the college's Industrial Drive campus into a single, modern facility. Programs now located in the building include Air Conditioning Technology, Automotive Technology, Automotive Collision Repair Technology, Carpentry, Diesel Equipment Technology, Electrical Systems Technology, and Welding. The consolidation provides students with expanded labs, modern equipment, and improved collaboration opportunities across disciplines.

TCSG Commissioner Greg Dozier highlighted the significance of the investment for the state's technical education infrastructure. The building underscores Georgia's continued commitment to equipping workers with the hands-on skills needed by employers across manufacturing, construction, transportation, and the skilled trades.

Following the ceremony, guests were invited to tour the facility, visiting program labs and meeting faculty and current students. The event drew attendees from across the college's service area, including Colquitt, Decatur, Early, Grady, Miller, Mitchell, Seminole, Thomas, Tift, Turner, and Worth counties.

Southern Regional Technical College offers over 150 degree, diploma, and certificate programs that are designed to get students quickly into their desired careers, and 38 general education courses that transfer to the University System of Georgia institutions and 19 private colleges and universities in Georgia. SRTC has instructional sites located in eleven counties across Southwest Georgia for the convenience of its students. The College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
