Southern Regional Technical College Launches MRI Registry Review Class in Response to Regional Healthcare Needs

Moultrie, GA (10/21/2025) — Southern Regional Technical College's (SRTC) Office of Economic Development is addressing critical workforce demands in the healthcare sector by offering a comprehensive MRI Registry Review course this December. The initiative directly responds to needs identified by local healthcare providers during the college's Fall 2024 community needs assessment survey.

The four-day live Simulcast program, scheduled for December 15-18, 2025, at SRTC's Moultrie Campus, will be led by veteran instructor Bill Faulkner, BS, TR (R)(MR)(CT), MRSO, who brings more than 18 years of teaching experience to the course.

"Our college is committed to listening to the workforce needs of our community partners," said Amy Carter Davis, Vice President for Economic Development at SRTC. "When healthcare providers told us they needed more qualified MRI technologists, we responded by creating this opportunity for radiography professionals to advance their credentials and meet the growing demand for imaging services in our region."

MRI technologists are in high demand nationwide, with particularly acute shortages in rural areas. This specialized training program offers radiography professionals a pathway to earn their RT(R)(MR) credential through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), positioning them for advancement in this expanding field.

The program satisfies ARRT structured education requirements and provides 25 hours of Category A credit. Participants will receive comprehensive preparation for the ARRT MRI certification exam, along with valuable resources, including a syllabus DVD containing anatomy materials and 30 days of post-class Q&A support from SRTC instructors.

The course covers essential topics including basic principles of magnetism, MR hardware and signal production, image contrast and pulse sequences, data acquisition and image quality, artifacts and fast imaging techniques, patient care and safety protocols, and neuro, body, and musculoskeletal anatomy.

The MRI Registry Review program costs $1,250 and will be held at SRTC's Moultrie Campus, located at 800 North Veterans Parkway. Sessions run Monday through Wednesday from 8:30 AM to 4:15 PM, and Thursday from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM on December 15-18.

The program is suitable for certification seekers and healthcare professionals looking to expand their imaging expertise. Cancellations are accepted up to 30 days in advance, and attendee substitutions are allowed.
