Record Enrollment Growth at Southern Regional Technical College

Thomasville, GA (06/16/2025) — Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) has achieved an increase in enrollment for the ninth consecutive semester since the fall of 2022. The college's total enrollment for the summer 2025 semester is 2,747, up from the 2024 summer enrollment of 2,397. This 14.6% growth is well over the Technical College System of Georgia's average of 10.2% growth. SRTC also saw an 18.2% increase in Full Time Equivalent enrollment from summer 2024 to summer 2025, well over the system average of 10%. It also marks another milestone for the college's largest summer semester enrollment to date!

SRTC President Jim Glass credits the college's strong growth to the combined efforts of faculty and staff. "Our faculty members are committed to providing the kind of high-quality education that is required in our service delivery area," commented Glass. "Before an individual can become a successful graduate, however, they must first become a successful student. Our staff frequently go far above and beyond for our students, assisting and supporting them every step of the way. From application to graduation, our students are never alone. I am proud to say that our team continually puts forth the kind of effort that our students deserve."

In March of 2022, President Jim Glass introduced the new enrollment campaign #GimmeFive to all employees. The objective of the #GimmeFive campaign is to serve as a reminder that all employees play an active role in meeting and exceeding the 5% enrollment growth target.

SRTC has added 35 new programs in the past 3 years to address the evolving demands of various industries and to equip students with the skills needed for contemporary job markets. SRTC has established a new partnership with the Georgia Institute of Technology, and through the Georgia AIM grant, SRTC has created new Manufacturing Engineering and Precision Machining labs to advance precision manufacturing offerings in our region. SRTC celebrated the grand opening of these programs with the community, students, faculty, staff, and community partners in May.

The School of Industrial Technology has experienced particularly strong growth, with enrollment up 19.1% this semester. To support this growing interest in industrial careers, SRTC is hosting several free bootcamps over the summer to introduce students to industrial, electrical, and welding career opportunities.

SRTC saw an incredible 46.4% growth in Dual Enrollment from summer 2024 to summer 2025. The college is expanding its reach into local high schools by offering more occupational courses to high school students during the summer, specifically at Worth County High School. Due to exceptional student demand during the fall and spring semesters, Worth County High School extended an invitation for SRTC to conduct courses on-site throughout the summer session.

Southern Regional Technical College offers over 150 degree, diploma, and certificate programs that are designed to get students quickly into their desired careers, and 38 general education courses that transfer to the University System of Georgia institutions and 19 private colleges and universities in Georgia. SRTC has instructional sites located in eleven counties across Southwest Georgia for the convenience of its students. The College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
