SRTC Practical Nursing Students Honored in Pinning Ceremony

On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) held a pinning ceremony honoring the most recent class of Practical Nursing (PN) students representing the SRTC-Moultrie cohort. The ceremony commemorates the students' successful completion of their nursing coursework and clinical rotations. These graduates are also eligible to participate in the commencement ceremony at SRTC-Bainbridge on July 29, 2025.

SRTC Recognizes President's List Students for Spring 2025 Term

Recently, the administration at Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) recognized exceptional students achieving the honor of President's List for the spring 2025 term, which ended May 5. Each semester, SRTC recognizes students who have accomplished high academic achievement through the President's List. In order to qualify for the President's List, students must meet two criteria: earn a grade of "A" in all coursework attempted and be enrolled in 12 semester credit hours or more at the college.

Recently, the administration at Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) recognized exceptional students achieving the honor of Merit List for the spring 2025 term, which ended May 2. Each semester, SRTC recognizes students who have accomplished high academic achievement through the Merit List. In order to qualify for the Merit List, students must meet two criteria: earn a grade of "A" or "B" in all coursework attempted and be enrolled in 6 or more semester credit hours at the college.

SRTC Nursing Graduates Honored in Pinning Ceremony

On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) held a pinning ceremony at SRTC-Moultrie during which 44 Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) students from the SRTC-Tifton and SRTC-Thomasville cohorts received their nursing pins. The ceremony commemorates the students' successful completion of their nursing coursework and clinical rotations. This class of nursing students is eligible to participate in SRTC's formal graduation ceremony on July 29 and will officially be Registered Nurses (RN) pending the passage of their board exams.

SRTC Veterinary Technology Students Recognized at Pinning Ceremony

On the morning of May 1, 2025, five students were recognized at a Veterinary Technology pinning ceremony held at Southern Regional Technical College's (SRTC) Thomasville Campus. These students completed multiple semesters of rigorous occupational coursework and a series of clinical rotations at local animal hospitals in addition to their prerequisite coursework. The graduates honored include Alana Bradym Angelica Claudio, Brianna Maloney, Makala Patrick, and Ykemia Young. Veterinary Technology Faculty Sharon Poitevint, LVT said, "The Veterinary Technology class of 2025 has demonstrated exceptional resilience and clinical skills throughout their training. Their passion for animal care and commitment to excellence will serve them well in the field. Dr. Mason and I are confident they will make a remarkable impact on veterinary medicine."

SRTC Dual Enrollment Students Honored in Pinning Ceremony at Tift County High School

Tift County High School students enrolled in Southern Regional Technical College's (SRTC) Dual Enrollment program celebrated their completion of the Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification with a special pinning ceremony on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. This marks the first group of CNA students completing the program since SRTC reintroduced it as a dual enrollment offering at Tift County High School last year.

Medical Assisting Students Recognized in Pinning Ceremony

On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) recognized four graduating Medical Assisting students at a pinning ceremony at SRTC-Moultrie, honoring their achievements. The students received pins and small gifts in honor of their accomplishments. The graduating Medical Assisting students include Shayla Edwards of Meigs, Ja'Miracle Hall of Thomasville, Sheila Walker of Tifton, and Amecia Young of Thomasville. Each of the graduating students completed multiple semesters of rigorous prerequisite and occupational coursework, including a series of clinical rotations at local medical offices. The students completed the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam and we are proud to announce that they achieved a 100% pass rate. This designation represents a medical assistant who has been credentialed through the Certifying Board of the AAMA.

Strength in Scrubs: Men in Nursing

Male nurses make up about 12% of total nurses, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). In the last 10 years alone, the percentage of male nurses has increased by more than 59%. Male LPNs increased by 112%, NPs by 108%, and RNs by 51%. While this growth is encouraging, healthcare organizations continue to prioritize gender diversity in nursing. Industry leaders are actively implementing recruitment strategies, mentorship programs, and educational initiatives to further increase male representation in this vital profession, aiming to strengthen the nursing workforce through greater diversity. We are excited to spotlight our amazing male Practical Nursing students in the new series "Strength in Scrubs: Men in Nursing"

Southern Regional Technical College's (SRTC) Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program held a pinning ceremony on Wednesday, April 9, marking the completion of the program for 9 students. Each student graduated with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from SRTC. The graduates include Jewell Anfinson, Makayla Carter, Timbreanna Hudson, Shannon Johnson, Tiffany Johnson, Angel Paro, Emma Ryan, Jasmine West, and Michelle Young.

SRTC Central Sterile Supply Processing Technician Graduates Honored in Pinning Ceremony

On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) recognized seven graduating Central Sterile Supply Processing Technician students at a pinning ceremony at SRTC-Tifton honoring their achievements. The Central Sterile Supply Processing Technician program is designed to provide entry-level training that will prepare graduates to function in the sterile supply processing and distribution areas of healthcare facilities. The program is based on a combination of theory and clinical instruction, applying scientific principles to the specific work area. Through theory classes with laboratory participatory components, students gain the knowledge and skills necessary for clinical application in healthcare settings. The program's academic and practical experiences provide students with the preparation needed to be eligible to sit for the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) certification exam.

Students from Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) showcased their exceptional skills at the Georgia Spring Leadership Conference in Atlanta on March 28-29. Members of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Collegiate and National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) chapters participated in leadership training workshops and competitive events, bringing home multiple awards.

Local High School Students Compete in Welding Competition Hosted by Southern Regional Technical College and Colquitt County High School

Local high school students competed in a welding competition on Thursday, March 27, 2025, hosted by Southern Regional Technical College and Colquitt County High School and sponsored by Darvin Flowers of Jones Welding and Steve Mattson of Lincoln Electric. Over 50 students participated in the competition in Moultrie to compete against each other for a chance to win the grand prize of a 140 amp GMAW welding machine, a Lincoln welding hood, welding jacket, welding gloves, welding cap, a bag for carrying welding gear, and a $1,000.00 SRTC scholarship. The competition aimed to foster healthy competition while highlighting the importance of welding skills in today's industrial landscape. Participants demonstrated their proficiency in various welding techniques and put their welding skills on display using the Shielded Metal Arc Welding process in horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions with E7018 and E6010 electrodes. SRTC welcomed students from Bainbridge High School, Colquitt County High School, Early County High School, Harris County High School, Miller County High School, Mitchell County High School, Pelham High School, Thomas County Central High School, Thomasville High School, Thomson High School, Valdosta High School, and Worth County High School.

SRTC Patient Care Technician/Assistant Graduates Achieve 100% Pass Rate on State Certification Exam

Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) is proud to announce that its first-ever Patient Care Technician/Assistant (PCT/A) graduating class has achieved a 100% pass rate on the Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPTC/A) exam. Chanice Johnson, Sheryl Means, Tien Nichols, Macey Sheffield, and Liz Snyder completed their coursework and clinical requirements before successfully passing their certification exams on their first attempt. This milestone marks a significant accomplishment for SRTC's newest healthcare program.

SRTC Nurse Aide Graduates Honored in Pinning Ceremony

On Tuesday, February 25, Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) recognized seven graduating Nurse Aide Accelerated students at a pinning ceremony at SRTC-Thomasville honoring their achievements: Shanaya Bryant of Pelham, Coluntiya Clements of Cairo, Brenda Lilly of Thomasville, Faith Mayo of Thomasville, Ra'Saviya Robinson of Pelham, Angel Stokes of Valdosta, and Kierra Timpson of Fort Gaines. The Nurse Aide Accelerated Technical Certificate of Credit Program is approved by the Georgia Medical Care Foundation. During their five-week accelerated program, the students completed the classroom training, laboratory practice, and clinical rotations required to earn their Nurse Aide certification. These graduates are now eligible to sit for the National Nurse Aide Assessment program which determines competency to become enrolled in the Georgia State Nurse Aide registry.

SRTC-Moultrie Rad Tech Graduates Achieve 100% Passage Rate on Certification Exam

Fall semester graduates from Southern Regional Technical College's (SRTC) Radiologic Technology program in Moultrie who have taken the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) exam have achieved a 100% passage. "We are incredibly proud of our recent graduates who have achieved a 100% pass rate on their ARRT exams," said Buffie Spencer, Radiologic Technology Program Chair. "This extraordinary accomplishment is a testament to their dedication, countless hours of preparation, and unwavering determination. From their impressive pre-graduation job placement rate to now achieving excellence on their board exams, these graduates have proven themselves ready to make an immediate impact in healthcare."

Southern Regional Technical College Celebrates Second Cohort of Street to Station Program

In a continuing commitment to excellence in education and workforce development, Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) proudly announces the advancement of its latest cohort of fire medic students in the Street to Station Program. This is the second cohort of the Street to Station Program with Thomas County Emergency Services, which aims to train fire medics or individuals who are cross-trained in both fire rescue and emergency medical services. These students were honored at a pinning ceremony held at the Thomas County Board of Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, marking the successful completion of comprehensive Firefighter 1 training.

SRTC Nurse Aide Graduates Achieve 100% Pass Rate on State Certification Exam

Fall semester graduates from Southern Regional Technical College's (SRTC) Nurse Aide program in Moultrie achieved a 100% passage on the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP). The NNAAP determines competency to become enrolled in the Georgia State Nurse Aide registry, making all nine graduates Certified Nurse Aides (CNA).

SRTC Inducts New Members into Organization for Associate Degree Nursing Alpha Delta Nu Honor Society

On the afternoon of Tuesday, December 3, 2024, the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing inducted 3 new members into the Alpha Delta Nu (ADN) Honor Society. The formal ceremony was held at SRTC-Thomasville. The inductees included the following students from the Fall 2024 Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) graduates: Carol Andrew, Tiffany McIntyre, and Janeysia Yellock. The Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (OADN) approved the formation of the Alpha Delta Nu (ADN) Honor Society, a national honor society for associate degree nursing students that recognizes the achievements of nursing students and promotes excellence in the nursing profession. Southern Regional Technical College has been chartered as the Iota Gamma Chapter, the first chapter to be established in the state of Georgia.

SRTC Respiratory Care Students Honored During Pinning Ceremony

On November 25, 2024, fifteen Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) Respiratory Care graduates were honored during a pinning ceremony held at SRTC-Thomasville. Joined by students' families and friends, the Respiratory Care program faculty at SRTC hosted the annual pinning ceremony in honor of the senior students. These students completed two semesters of prerequisite coursework as well as four semesters of rigorous occupational coursework including a series of clinical rotations at local hospitals. In addition to the pinning ceremony, these students are eligible to participate in the college's December 4 graduation ceremony at SRTC-Bainbridge. The graduates honored were: Mikayla Billups of Adel, Whitney Cawthon of Thomasville, Krishandra Davis of Thomasville, Elizabeth Evarts of Newton, Archie Bernard Fowler of Albany, Jala Herring of Norman Park, Ahlissia James of Thomasville, Shaquila McClain of Thomasville, Myesha Keyshonna Morris of Cairo, Crishundra Renee Reed of Arlinton, Fallyn Taylor Schafer of Cairo, Yeni Simon-Chaves of Bainbridge, Samantha Skinner of Lakeland, Candace Washington of Boston, and Iesha Tiara Wilcox of Cairo.

Inaugural Class of SRTC Central Sterile Supply Processing Technician Graduates Honored in Pinning Ceremony

On Tuesday, November 19, 2024, Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) recognized seven graduating Central Sterile Supply Processing Technician students at a pinning ceremony at SRTC-Tifton honoring their achievements.
