Benjie Nobles Graduates from South GeorgiaLEADS Leadership Immersion Program

Moultrie, GA (04/02/2026) — Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) is proud to announce that Benjie Nobles, Criminal Justice Faculty and SRTC's 2025 Rick Perkins Teacher of the Year, has successfully completed the South GeorgiaLEADS Regional Leadership Initiative (RLI) program for 2025-2026.

The South GeorgiaLEADS program is a premier leadership immersion experience designed to equip citizens throughout South Georgia with awareness of critical regional issues and the necessary skills to effectively lead South Georgia in the 21st Century economy.

"I had the opportunity to meet, collaborate, and share ideas with some of the greatest current and future leaders in this region," said Nobles. "This experience gave me a deeper understanding of regionalism and how it impacts economic and workforce development and the future success of South Georgia. The connections and perspective I gained will directly shape how I serve my students and our community at SRTC."

Throughout the seven-month program, Nobles participated in sessions focusing on key regional topics, including community storytelling, leveraging tradition and opportunity, regional capacity-building, and the power of collective impact. The program culminated with a graduation ceremony held at Valdosta State University on March 6, 2026.

South GeorgiaLEADS was established in 2014 through a partnership between the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development at the University of Georgia. The program represents collaborative efforts by economic development professionals across South Georgia who recognize the critical importance of investing in a new generation of leaders who can champion the region while addressing significant challenges related to workforce development, education, and economic growth.

"We are extremely proud of Nobles's accomplishment," said SRTC President Jim Glass. "His dedication to both his students and to our region exemplifies the spirit of this program. Being recognized as our 2025 Rick Perkins Teacher of the Year and now completing South GeorgiaLEADS reflects the kind of leader who strengthens SRTC's mission and raises our profile across the state."

As a Criminal Justice instructor at SRTC, Nobles prepares students for careers in law enforcement, corrections, and public safety. In addition to his classroom role, Nobles was named SRTC's 2025 Rick Perkins Teacher of the Year, an honor that advances him as the college's representative at the state level. His completion of the South GeorgiaLEADS program further equips him to serve as a regional advocate, bridging criminal justice education and community leadership to advance workforce development across SRTC's service area.
