SRTC Sets New Enrollment Record with 14 Consecutive Semesters of Growth

Thomasville, GA (09/23/2026) — Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) has reached a new enrollment milestone, welcoming 6,022 students for the fall 2026 semester, the highest enrollment in the college's history. Fall enrollment has increased from 5,990 students in 2025, and the latest figures mark SRTC's 14th consecutive semester of enrollment growth since summer 2022.

The record-setting enrollment reflects continued demand for SRTC's career-focused programs, which prepare students to enter the workforce in high-demand fields throughout Southwest Georgia and beyond. With a 99% job placement rate, the college continues to connect education and training with meaningful career opportunities.

"Reaching more than 6,000 students is an exciting milestone for Southern Regional Technical College, but what matters most is what that number represents," said SRTC President Jim Glass. "Every student who comes through our doors is working toward a goal, whether that is beginning a career, advancing in their current profession, or continuing their education. Our faculty and staff work hard every day to give those students the knowledge, skills, and support they need to succeed. Fourteen consecutive semesters of growth is a tremendous accomplishment, and I am proud of the work happening across our college and throughout the communities we serve."

SRTC's Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program continues to be one of the college's largest programs, with more than 800 students currently enrolled in nursing-related fields. SRTC is the top producer of ASN graduates among Georgia's 22 technical colleges and ranks third among all colleges and universities in Georgia for Registered Nursing graduates. The program helps prepare a significant number of nurses to enter a profession that remains essential to healthcare providers and communities across the region and state.

SRTC is also preparing students for careers in education, with 255 students enrolled in its Education and Early Childhood Care and Education programs. These programs provide pathways for students interested in working with children and pursuing careers in education while helping meet the need for qualified educators throughout the region. SRTC has recently strengthened these pathways through transfer agreements with Albany Technical College, Kennesaw State University, South Georgia State College, Thomas University, and Valdosta State University, creating additional opportunities for students to continue their studies and work toward advanced degrees and careers in education.

Skilled trades also represent a significant portion of SRTC's enrollment. More than 400 students are enrolled in Welding programs, making Welding one of the college's largest programs and one of the top programs at SRTC. Welding is offered at all four of SRTC's main campuses (Bainbridge, Moultrie, Thomasville, and Tifton) as well as through Dual Enrollment at numerous area high schools, expanding access to training for students throughout the college's service area.

Commercial Truck Driving is another of SRTC's top programs in the state. The 10-week program is offered in Tifton and at the Bainbridge campus, with new classes beginning every five weeks throughout the semester. Because additional Commercial Truck Driving cohorts will begin after the college's initial fall enrollment count, SRTC expects its record enrollment of 6,022 students to continue to increase throughout the fall semester.

SRTC has also expanded opportunities for students pursuing careers in the skilled trades with the opening of the new 70,000-square-foot Industrial Technology Building on the Moultrie campus. Classes began at the facility during the summer semester. The building consolidates seven programs previously housed at the college's Industrial Drive campus into one modern facility: Air Conditioning Technology, Automotive Technology, Automotive Collision Repair Technology, Carpentry, Diesel Equipment Technology, Electrical Systems Technology, and Welding. Expanded labs, modern equipment, and opportunities for collaboration across disciplines provide students with an enhanced environment for hands-on technical education.

Dual Enrollment continues to be a significant part of SRTC's enrollment, with more than 2,400 high school students currently taking college courses through SRTC at 22 high schools across the region. Dual Enrollment students can earn college credit while completing high school requirements through both occupational and general education courses, giving them a head start on their college education. SRTC offers 38 general education courses that transfer seamlessly to the University System of Georgia, as well as to 19 private colleges and universities throughout the state, providing students with multiple pathways to continue their education.

As SRTC celebrates its largest enrollment in college history, the continued growth reflects the college's focus on expanding access to education and responding to the workforce needs of the communities it serves.

"Growth gives us the opportunity to serve more students, but it also challenges us to continue improving what we offer," Glass said. "Whether a student is preparing to become a nurse, welder, truck driver, paramedic, or pursuing one of the many other careers available through SRTC, our goal is to provide an education that leads to opportunity. Southern Regional Technical College offers over 150 degree, diploma, and certificate programs that are designed to get students quickly into their desired careers, and 38 general education courses that transfer to the University System of Georgia institutions and 19 private colleges and universities in Georgia. SRTC has instructional sites located in eleven counties across Southwest Georgia for the convenience of its students. The College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). SACSCOC is the regional body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the Southern states.
