SRTC Board of Directors Recognized at TCSG Leadership Conference
Thomasville, GA (10/22/2026) — The Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) Board of Directors joined the prestigious 100% Club at the Technical College Directors Association (TCDA) and Technical College Foundation Association (TCFA) Leadership Conference, held October 19-21 in Savannah.
All eight members of SRTC's Board of Directors have completed individual certification training through TCDA, earning the board recognition as a Certified Board of Directors. The certification process includes training in areas such as community advocacy, governance, budget and financial management, and other topics important to effective board leadership.
Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) Commissioner Greg Dozier recognized the SRTC Board for its achievement and presented the college with a plaque commemorating its 100% certification. SRTC Board Vice Chair Dawn Johns accepted the plaque alongside SRTC President Jim Glass. Board members Andrew Sheffield and Andrea Collins also attended the conference.
SRTC's seven-member Board of Directors is comprised of community leaders representing the college's 11-county service area, which includes Colquitt, Decatur, Early, Grady, Miller, Mitchell, Seminole, Thomas, Tift, Turner, and Worth counties. The board is led by Chair Tonia Garrett of Tift County and Vice Chair Dawn Johns of Colquitt County and includes Tonya Brown of Colquitt County; Brad Barber and Andrew Sheffield of Decatur County; and Andrea Collins and Stacey Hancock of Thomas County.
TCDA works to enhance the capability of local technical college boards of directors and strengthen their role in supporting technical and adult education throughout Georgia. Established by state statute, local boards advise colleges on program direction and institutional goals while advocating for technical education and workforce development.
SRTC Foundation Board of Trustees members also represented the college at the conference. Barbara Anderson and Micah Elkins attended on behalf of the SRTC Foundation, which once again earned TCFA Role Model Board distinction, an achievement the Foundation Board has maintained for more than 10 years.
TCFA supports the Technical College System of Georgia and its affiliated foundations through marketing, advocacy, and fundraising efforts benefiting technical college students, programs, and faculty.
