Southern Regional Technical College Names Leigh Pannell Associate Dean for the School of Arts and Sciences
Thomasville, GA (01/15/2026) — Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) President Jim Glass has appointed Leigh Pannell as the Associate Dean for the School of Arts and Sciences beginning January 1, 2026.
Pannell has been with the college since 2016, serving as Mathematics Instructor and Mathematics Program Chair since 2018. As Mathematics Program Chair, Pannell has provided transformative leadership within the mathematics department, demonstrating exceptional skill in curriculum development, program innovation, and faculty coordination. She developed a transferable degree-level mathematics course as an alternative to College Algebra, increasing student enrollment and program success rates. She also led the transition to lockdown-enabled exams throughout the college and established a central cloud repository for mathematics faculty that streamlined access to materials and improved curriculum consistency.
Prior to joining SRTC, Pannell served as a Mathematics Teacher at MacIntyre Park Middle School in Thomasville from 2010 to 2015, where she designed and implemented differentiated mathematics instruction for grades sixth through eighth and supported at-risk students through individualized learning plans.
With an impressive educational background, Pannell holds a Bachelor of Science in Education with a major in Mathematics and English from Valdosta State University, a Master of Education in Math and Science from Valdosta State University, a Specialist in Education degree with a major in Instructional Technology from Kennesaw State University, and a Graduate Certificate in Mathematics Education from Walden University.

In her role as Associate Dean for the School of Arts and Sciences, Pannell will be responsible for fostering effective cooperation, coordination, and communication across multiple campuses with regard to the college's academic programs. She will oversee programs within the School of Arts and Sciences, including History, Humanities, Mathematics, Psychology, English, and Natural Sciences. Her responsibilities will include directing programs and services, supervising program leadership, ensuring compliance with college and the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) academic policies, managing budget operations, supporting faculty with program outcomes and accreditation, coordinating curriculum development, and monitoring program statistics to ensure viability and student success.
Southern Regional Technical College offers over 150 degree, diploma, and certificate programs that are designed to get students quickly into their desired careers, and 38 general education courses that transfer to the University System of Georgia institutions and 19 private colleges and universities in Georgia.
