SRTC Launches Free GED and HiSET Classes in Blakely

Blakely, GA (02/18/2026) — Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) is proud to announce the launch of free GED and HiSET preparation classes in Blakely, Georgia, effective February 17, 2026. The classes will be held every Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Lucy Hilton Maddox Memorial Library, located at 118800 Columbia Street, Blakely, Georgia 39823.

These no-cost classes are designed to help adult learners in the Early County area prepare for the GED test and HiSET exam, providing a pathway to earning a high school equivalency credential. Preparation covers all subject areas, including Math, Science, Social Studies, and English Language Arts.

"We are thrilled to expand our Adult Education services into the Blakely community," said Andy Semones, Dean of Adult Education. "This is a wonderful opportunity for residents to take that important step toward a greater academic and career success, completely free of charge."

Classes will be held every Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. All sessions will take place at the Lucy Hilton Maddox Memorial Library, located at 118800 Columbia Street, Blakely, Georgia 39823. There is no cost to attend. Classes are completely free and open to eligible adult residents.

Southern Regional Technical College offers a comprehensive Adult Education program serving residents across Colquitt, Decatur, Early, Grady, Miller, Mitchell, Seminole, Thomas, Tift, Turner, and Worth counties. Services are free and available both in person and online, and include Adult Literacy instruction, Career Training (Integrated Education Training), English Language classes, and GED/HiSET exam preparation.

Two computer-based testing (CBT) pathways are available: the GED test and the HiSET exam. Both may be taken at testing centers or via online proctored options. Eligible Georgia residents may also apply for the HOPE High School Equivalency (HSE) Grant, which provides an award not to exceed $200 to cover the cost of the GED examination per subject area exam.
